Last week I talked about the Revolution Radiant Lights Palette. This week I wanna talk to you about the Lip Lava liquid lipsticks (AV).  I think these are supposed to be a dupe for the Too Faced ones, but those are hella pricey so I don't have any of those yet to compare.  

I love these though.  

There are 5 shades available at £2.99 each, or if you buy all 5 together, you get all 5 for £11.96, so one free! Win.  Obviously I bought them all.

They are very pigmented and easy to apply with the applicator and they are great for mixing.  Some of them went onto my hand a bit chunky but I haven't found that when applying to the lips.

  

Here's a pic of the applicator, a kind of doe-foot applicator but the product is dispensed through the centre rather than it being a wand.

As such...

Hand swatch: these swatches are mostly a bit more true to life than the lip swatches, which got a bit more washed out.  They look super opaque, right? They are.  And you can see below how much I used to get each lipswatch.

Shades L-R: Unleash, Firestorm, Forgiven, Tremor, Shockwave

Lip Swatches

Unleash

This shade I was nervous of when I swatched it on my hand as it's quite orange, but it's a gorgeous peachy coral. It's bright though so not one for the timid. I love it.

Firestorm

Gorgeous, blue-based red. Crap rushed application, sorry. I love this colour, it's gorgeous. It needs a bit more work and is not as opaque as the other shades but it's worth it.

Forgiven

OK I totally expected to hate this one; it's really brown! I don't like brown lipsticks (flashback of terrible teenage makeup blunders in the mid-late 90s!) but I actually like this on. It's a lovely browny nude and I have surprised myself by wearing it and liking it!

Tremor

This is my favourite; not because the colour is anything mind-blowing, it's just a nice pink, rather because it's the most wearable. Also, it's brilliant for mixing with any of the other shades to tone them down. 

Shockwave

This is the crappest lip swatch (think the light was fading at this point), it's much more vibrant and true to the hand-swatch than this. If you love purple and are not afraid to rock it, go for this one. 

The first thing I thought of when I swatched this colour was OCC's Hoochie Lip Tar. So I swatched them together for ya! Shockwave is more pinky than Hoochie so if Hoochie is a bit too grey/blue for you, then this might be a good alternative. They are quite similar in texture too.

LIPSTICK! I named the blog after it, so I figure I should write about it.  So this post is dedicated to some vegan lipsticks, in case you were looking for some options.

There's tonnes of vegan lip products out there, lots of them easily available in our drug stores but actual lipSTICKS that are both cruelty free and vegan? Whole different ballgame. But there are options out there and here are a few.

I thought I'd start off with the option you can actually buy on the high street.

Good old Superdrug! Gotta give them so much love for bringing out a fully vegan makeup range that is affordable and doesn't totally blow. Their regular lipsticks are ace, they are nicely pigmented and smooth and have a decent colour range.

They also do glossy lipsticks, which are not as pigmented but then they're not meant to be, as they're shiny like gloss.

Lime Crime
I know I know, a lot of people wouldn't touch LC with a 10 foot pole and I get why. But I have to admit that they make some truly awesome vegan makeup products. Their lipsticks, I LOVE them. Look how adorable the packaging is for one - unicorns dammit!  They are also really opaque and they smell like MAC lipsticks, which isn't a bad thing.

ELF
Another company you can always rely on for (low-priced) vegan products. There's a bunch of different ELF lippies; my favourite being the moisturising ones, which I did a blog post about HERE if you wanna see swatches.

Then there's the mineral lipsticks, which I think are great also.

And then not forgetting the super duper cheap as chips basic lippies, they're just £1.95 each! They smell a bit like sweet crayons which is weird but for the price, they're pretty awesome. Especial Nostalgic which is a gorgeous pinky nude (that I've even seen bloggers describe as a similar colour to Nars' Turkish Delight!). Packaging is pretty naff and cheap looking but for less than 2 quid, can you really complain about that? (No.)

You know how much I love Autograph, I've said it before and their lipsticks are vegan and awesome! WOO! They have glossy versions of these too and I really really like them.  The packaging is nice and doesn't look cheap and I like the push in bullet, makes it a bit sturdier in a handbag than a regular lid, in my opinion.

Too Faced La Cremes
OK these are the most expensive lippies in this post, which is why I only have 2. But omg are they ever freakin gorgeous! The packaging is beautiful, just lovely and the lipstick formula is creamy and glossy and pigmented. GUSH GUSH GUSH, they're great. They're just freakin pricey (£18 each!)

Makeup Revolution
New kid on the block,  Makeup Revolution has a couple of vegan options for £1!  Not all of their lipsticks are vegan, check out this post for details of the ones to avoid.

I feel like I should also give a shout-out to OCC's Lip Tars even though they're liquid so not technically a lipstick but they are so damn awesome that you need them in your life. But I have tonnes of them so I think really they need their own post!  Leave me a comment on here or FB/Twitter etc if you want to see that!

When I last ordered some stuff from ELF at the end of December, I decided to try out a couple of their Moisturizing Lipsticks. I got 3 colours, Party in the Buff, Flirty & Fabulous and Red Carpet. (The hand swatches were all 2-3 swipes, no primer.)

Firstly "Party in the Buff"

I'm pretty sure that if swatched this on my hand in a shop I wouldn't have bought it. It swatches really orangey and I have a couple of colours like that already.  Here it is on my hand:

But on the lips, it's lovely. OK the lighting is slightly different here, as I took the hand-swatch pics in my lightbox and I can't stick my whole head in the thing! But actually this is pretty true to life. It looks much less orangey on and it's a lovely nude shade.

Secondly "Flirty and Fabulous"

This is a night bright, fuschia pink. I think this would be lovely just with a simple eye look. My camera does unfortunately wash it out a little bit on the swatches.

Lastly, I got "Red Carpet"

This is a bright red that is more blue toned than orangey but is a bit of a cross between a deep cherry red and a brick red. It's a lovely shade - although as my teeth are not the whitest in the world I would prefer a deeper blue-toned red because it makes your teeth look whiter than a more orangey shade.

Forgive my lip swatch - as us lippy lovers know, red lips take time and patience to perfect and I just kind of slapped this on quickly for the pic! Also, the pic has washed this out a little too.

I like the formula of these lipsticks a lot. Their name doesn't lie, they are moisturising and feel very nice on, not drying at all.  The downside of this is that they won't last as long as a matte formula. But I'm ok with this, most lipstick/gloss doesn't really last on me I find anyway (except for Limecrime's Velvetines - those awesome lil suckers stay on ALL NIGHT!!)

I would definitely pick up some other shades of these when I do future orders.
